For the past few years our director, Lindsay Ward, has organized a networking event geared toward celebrating and empowering women in the business and technology world. This year NextCorps will be hosting the event on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Continue reading to learn more about this amazing partner of ours!  Share a brief overview of NextCorps and the work you do to support entrepreneurs and small businesses: NextCorps is a Rochester-based non-profit helping innovative technology companies launch and grow. Each year, we serve more than 150 tech startups and area manufacturers by providing the mentorship, resources, and connections they need to scale their businesses. In addition to incubation services, we offer a variety of internationally and nationally recognized programs. This includes the global startup accelerators like For ClimateTech for climate-focused innovations and Luminate for optics, photonics, imaging, and laser technologies; national programs such as the Manufacturing Accelerator for hardware-based companies; and regional initiatives that help founders build software businesses using no-code or AI-based tools. NextCorps also serves as the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center for Rochester and the Finger Lakes region, which assists existing small and mid-sized manufacturers with projects that improve their competitiveness. What are a few of the key programs, resources, or services you’d like our SBDC clients and audience to know about? NextCorps operates a state-of-the-art business incubator at Sibley Square in the heart of Rochester's Downtown Innovation Zone. Our 40,000 square-foot facility offers coworking space for individual membership, dedicated office space for growing teams, and several labs--from prototyping and media/AV to wet and electronics labs. We also have one of the only (and we think the best) city rooftop patios to enjoy the skyline! While NextCorps is focused on tech startups, its space serves as a gathering place for the local entrepreneurial community. Come to a monthly lunch & learn to get free education on all types of business topics, stop in for Startup Drinks to network and find new collaborations, attend special events to explore opportunities, and get the latest resources and programming announcements by subscribing to NextCorps' newsletter series. If you want a pulse on what's happening, it's a must read.  What makes NextCorps a valuable resource for entrepreneurs in our community? NextCorps is one of the longest, continuously operating business incubators in the United States. One reason for this is our staff--they have an "entrepreneurial mindset" and a "founders first" mentality. Most often, people starting a business don't know what they need or where to start. We help them figure out what to do next, and connect them to the resources that exist within the ecosystem that can move them forward, faster, including funding. Many of our staff have either founded a startup or worked at a growing one, so they've "been there, done that." They're at NextCorps because they want to help entrepreneurs and the Rochester region succeed.
